Family owned and operated, Basse's Taste of Country has roots in Muskego, WI where owners Becky and Roger Basse ran a similar business for five years. After working there for another seven years, the Basse's decided to branch out and started the Taste of Country store in September of 2000.
The Basse's extend their love of family to their business. Basse's offers family-orientated, fun and educational activities all year long.

Our first year of UPICK strawberries was upon use. While working with the unknown we plowed ahead with positive attitudes. After much preparation and details the day arrived and people were coming to pick their berries. What a sight! Huge, luscious, sweet strawberries for everyone to be had - A success!

-In the fall of 2003 we expanded our Pumpkin Festival; continued to add something new each year - bouncers in 2003, a performance stage in 2004 for our entertainment, more bouncers, ponies, clowns and 4-H props in 2005.
- More exciting news! We were offered a chance to add UPICK strawberries to our list of agritainment. We began the lengthy process in 2003 with the beginning stages.
- We dug our pond for irrigation in December of 2003
- In the spring of 2004 we placed all pipes for irrigation underground.
- Spring of 2004 - planted 110,000 strawberry plants. Maintained all plants to be harvested in June of 2005.
- Pump house was added with 75 horse electric pump for irrigation.

- Farm Market progressing nicely with more and more customers.
- Exciting news! We were offered to manage and operate and apple orchard - Homegrown apples began in fall sold in our store.

- Farm market begins to take shape
- Added new items: Bedding plants and mulch, Uncle Harry's custard, Crafts (Spring, General and Fall gift ideas), Gourmet foods, jellies, jams, teas.
-Invited to FOX 6 TV Station to decorate the Weather Deck. (This opportunity continues today!)

- Began new business; Farm Produce/Agritainment Business
- Started from scratch - 80 acres bare land
- Summer - full like of homegrown produce
- Fall - worked double-time to open our store for Pumpkin Festival. Homemade caramel apples, kids activities, farm animals.
- One of the first farms in Wisconsin to create the "Corn Maze". Corn maze for 2000 was 'Treasure Island' - A Big Success!
